The Aston Martin DBS was launched in 1967 and was the successor to the DB6. Right from the start, the DBS, which now broke with the tradition of the DB series, was to be delivered with a newly developed eight-cylinder engine. However, the engine was not ready for series production at the start of production and so it was decided to continue using the proven six-cylinder engine of the DB6. In 1969, the longed-for DBS V8 finally arrived. Today it is one of the rarest Aston Martin models and therefore a sought-after collector’s car. Initially, Touring from Milan, who had already designed the DB4, DB5 and DB6, were to be responsible for the design of the new Aston Martin. However, the two prototypes did not convince company boss David Brown at all and so the in-house designer William Towns was left to design the DBS. A good decision, because the DBS and its similar successor, the V8, were the most successful cars in the company’s history.
This DBS V8 was delivered to Paris in April 1971 in this colour configuration. So it is a genuine LHD with a 5-speed manual gearbox! The car has been extensively restored in Germany.
