Description:
Based on the Rolls-Royce 20/25 HP, the wheelbase of the 3½-liter Bentley was shortened and equipped with an engine optimized to 115 hp. Combined with a synchronized 4-speed transmission and brake servo, the car effortlessly achieved the performance of a sports car with low noise levels. “The Silent Sports Car”, as it was quickly dubbed, was a tireless long distance tourer that even W. O. Bentley himself claimed that the 3½-liter model was the best ever to bear his name.
This Bentley 3 ½-Liter was delivered to the writer Frederick Lonsdale Allen in 1935 and had a 4-seater Sports Saloon body by Thrupp & Maberly.
Available records indicate another owner, Richard P. Hall of Florida, USA.
According to the previous owner the Bentley presented here was fitted with an open 4-seater body in the style of Vanden Plas already in the 1950s.
In the 90’s the car came to the Netherlands and in 2002 to the present owner to Northern Germany.
On his behalf the Bentley was regularly serviced and always optimized according to available invoices. From England the owner acquired a contemporary trailer which is road registered and was restored suitably to the vehicle.
The vehicle convinces by the reliable technics of a “Derby-Bentley”, its outstanding condition and at an attractive price.
