Mercedes-Benz presented the 300 SL in February 1954 at the International Motor Sports Show in New York. It was the fastest sports car of its time.
The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL “Gullwing” is regarded worldwide as a design and technical icon of the post-war era and remains one of the most prestigious models among automobile collectors. Between 1954 and 1957, only 1,400 units were produced.
About the car:
The vehicle offered here was originally delivered in 1957 to Ramfis Leónidas Trujillo in the Dominican Republic. He was a racing driver, playboy, politician, and son of the then Dominican dictator Rafael Trujillo. In 2009, the 300 SL returned from the USA to Germany, where it underwent an extensive, well-documented full restoration by renowned brand specialists, including photos and invoices. The subsequent ownership history is well known.
