Description:
Developed as a homologation model for international GT racing, the GT2 is technically based on the 993 Turbo, but was consistently engineered for lightweight construction and maximum performance. Between 1995 and 1997, only 68 vehicles were produced in racing specification. This GT2 was sold by Porsche Motorsport to its first owner in November 1996, as evidenced by the available invoice. In collaboration with Krauss Motorsport, the car was campaigned in the FIA GT series as well as in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1998, driven by Bernhard Müller, Michael Trunk, and Erich Palmberger. The vehicle was factory-upgraded to twin ignition for the 1998 season. The car later passed to Otto Altenbach, who used it sporadically in various racing series. A few years ago, the Porsche was sold to an enthusiast and collector. Between 2015 and 2017, this owner commissioned a specialist to carry out a complete restoration of the GT2, starting from the bare chassis. The vehicle still retains its original engine and gearbox (matching numbers), both of which have been fully rebuilt. The cost of the overhaul exceeded €300,000 and is documented with invoices and photographs. The car has been repainted in its original color, “Grand Prix White,” and wrapped in accordance with its appearance in the FIA GT Championship / Le Mans 24 Hours. The vehicle comes with a German vehicle registration document. A rare opportunity to acquire one of the few original Porsche 993 GT2 R factory race cars with documented racing history. In its near-new condition, the car represents a promising investment. An ideal entry ticket to prestigious historic motorsport events such as the “Le Mans Classic” or the “Endurance Racing Legends.”
Engine:
Air-cooled twin-turbo 3.6-litre six-cylinder boxer engine, the power output varies from 430 hp to 600 hp, depending on year of manufacture, variant or race regulations
