Only 35 Type 40A were built and from that only a handful with that beautiful body from Henri Chapron. The engine of the Type 40A – that was only built in 1930 and 1931 – was the exact half of the Bugatti Type 49 : five bearings crankshaft, overhead camshaft, two Inlet- and one Outlet Valve each Cylinder, Batteryinginition with 2 sparks for each Cylinder.
This Bugatti received a complete technical restoration within the last years. Engine and all components, Gearbox, Steeringsystem, Chassis ect. were thoughroughly restored or replaced. All work is documented and lots of pictures and restoration describtions come with the car. This Bugatti also received a new cylinderblock and – for better handling – a more modern gearbox. But – the original block and gearbox are still there and come with the car.
The body – which was done by the famous Henri Chapron – is still original and also the interior is mostly original. Very charming patina. The car is road registred and ready to go.
