    Description:

In the mid-1950s, the Alfa Romeo 1900 made its debut as a new sporty model in the upper middle class. On the shortened chassis of the series-produced limousine (Berlina), a few coupés and cabriolets were produced in small numbers with a short wheelbase. Renowned companies such as Ghia, Pinin Farina, Zagato and above all Touring produced various bodies on behalf of the factory. The 1900C Super Sprint (SS) became most famous. In 1954, an Alfa Romeo 1900C Super Sprint cost about 31,000 Deutschmarks in Germany, which was about 2,000 Deutschmarks more than a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing.

According to its “Alfa Romeo Classiche” this rare 1900 CSS “Superleggera” coupé left the Touring production halls in June 1954. The car was first delivered in San Francisco. The current owner bought it from the well-known car collector Al Cortes. Under his direction the car was extensively restored. The car was painted yellow and the interior was upholstered in contrasting navy blue leather. The engine and transmission were reworked and optimised. Photos of the restoration process are available. Since its completion in 2015, the current owner has only used the Alfa Romeo 1900C SS occasionally. The car impresses with its beautiful colour combination and Concours condition – a vehicle for the connoisseur!

    Equipment:
Borrani wheels, 5-speed transmission, wooden steering wheel

    Production:
Only 188 vehicles were produced in this coachwork design.
