Description:
Thanks to state support, Alfa Romeo had the opportunity (but also the challenge) to build the best cars in the world in the 1920s and 1930s. Despite the destruction of the factory buildings in the First World War, the company was able to live up to this reputation with the 6C 2500 models. Exceptionally gifted coachbuilders created some of the most beautiful but also most expensive cars of the era on Alfa‘s “rolling chassis”. The list of celebrities who adorned themselves with an Alfa 6C 2500 is long.
The chassis of this 6C 2500 was delivered by Alfa Romeo to Pininfarina in Italy in 1948. It was exported to the USA about one year later as one of only 68 Short Chassis Cabriolets built. In the 1980s the vehicle came back to Europe. It was restored in France in the early 2000s, and then again extensively rebuilt between 2012 and 2014. Technically as well as optically the vehicle is outstanding, and the colour „grigio“ already suited Rita Hayworth perfectly when she drove her 6C 2500 SS PininFarina Cabriolet to her wedding with Prince Ali Kahn in May 1949!
6-cylinder inline DOHC engine, 3 carburetors, 2.443 ccm, approx. 105 hp (factory specifications)
4-speed gearbox, wire spoke wheels
